When you get older you can lose muscle.
The scientific name for muscle loss is sarcopenia.
Everyone is affected by this condition,
but it increases at different rates of speed.
Three exercise sessions a week for over twenty weeks
is enough to increase blood-flow which reduces
muscle loss. In
addition, muscle weakness has been associated with
a variety of other
diseases.
For example, there appears to be a strong association
between
sarcopenia due to aging and heart disease.
