Mrs. Palmer’s last day was yesterday. We had a little celebration for her before she left. She will be keeping busy, that’s for sure.  We’re hoping to see her around here next year.  We wish her the best in her future!

Reading – We started Unit Five this week.  We read a lot of poetry and spent a bit of time writing our own.  The children enjoyed reading and writing different poems.  Next week we will be reading fables and discussing the lessons learned from them.  We are also working with adjectives and multiple meaning words.  The children will also begin writing opinion pieces, along with more poetry.  

Math – The children took their Unit 11 math test this week and did pretty well.  Many of us are still having difficulty with counting change, which is a skill we will practice through the remainder of the year.  We will begin Unit 12 on Monday, and this is a review unit of skills that should be mastered by the end of second grade.  Please be sure your child completes his homework daily.
