This course is required for graduation. The course
emphasizes the pursuit of healthful lifestyles and provides learning
experiences that favorably influence understanding, attitude and conduct
relating to personal health and well-being. The curriculum includes units on
nutrition, fitness, disease prevention, mental health, human sexuality,
substance abuse and safety and first aid.
LEADER CORPS

Department approval – Students must have a “B” average in PE classes,
display leadership and responsibility.

This elective is offered to juniors and seniors who display
leadership and assume responsibility. Students assist and participate in PE
classes.
PERSONAL FITNESS

This elective is designed to develop maximum physical
strength and endurance. Various weight
lifting and stretching routines, as well as plyometric conditioning exercises
are introduced to enhance speed, agility, flexibility, cardiovascular strength
and self-confidence. Weight and muscular gains are monitored monthly.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 9/10 (HPE1000)

2 times per cycle, all year
Open to: Freshmen,
Sophomores
Freshmen and sophomore students are required to take this
course. Students make activity selections from a wide variety of team sports
and individual sports that are designed to improve personal fitness, skill
development and knowledge in each activity as well as promote positive personal
and social behavior. Fitness testing is required for all students. Additional
activities are scheduled between units.
