BASIC TECHNICAL DRAWING/CAD I   (TED1300)

Credit:  1

Prerequisites:  None

Meetings:  48 minutes, every day, full year

Open to:  All grade levels

 

Students will learn basic methods and drawing techniques -- freehand, mechanical and computer assisted, to produce industrially acceptable drawings. During the course students will be encouraged to develop and use a logical approach to problem solving as well as visualization skills necessary to interpret 2D drawings, pictorials, and 3D wire frame representations. Learning to manipulate a full-featured 2D CAD program, from planning to plotting will be a centralized theme throughout the year. This course should be considered a MINIMUM requirement for any student wishing to pursue a career in engineering, drafting, or technology based occupations. 

 

COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING II (CAD)   (TED2300)

Credit:  1

Prerequisites:  CAD I or written permission of instructor

Meetings:  48 minutes, every day, full year

Open to:  Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors

 

This is an in-depth study of the computer as a design and drafting tool, which will build on the fundamentals developed in CAD I. In addition to enhancing the two dimensional work started in CAD I, 3 dimensional CAD will be introduced and assignments given to familiarize students with the 3D environment on the computer. 

 

FALCON VIDEO NEWS   (TED1320)

Credit:  1

Prerequisites: None

Meetings:  48 minutes, every day, full year

Open to:  All grade levels

 

Students enrolled in this class will study the fundamentals of video news production.  They will produce Falcon video news for the high school and record various school district events for broadcast.

The focus for this course will be on preparing a complete video news program for broadcast.

 

INTRODUCTION TO MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY   (TED1330)

Credit:  1

Prerequisites:  None

Meetings:  48 minutes, every day, full year

Open to:  All grade levels

 

The process of transforming raw materials into finished products will be studied and experienced in this course.  Hands-on product design and fabrication will be emphasized.  Students will plan and construct products composed of woods, plastics, and metals.  Additionally, units in machine safety, electronics, technical writing and reading, manufacturing, and prototype design will be included.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY I   (TED1370)

Credit:  1/2

Prerequisites:  None

Meetings:  48 minutes, 3 days per cycle, full year

Open to:  All grade levels

 

This class is provided for students who desire a better understanding of visual communication through photography. Basic knowledge in techniques and skills are developed using various types of cameras. Areas to be covered include basic cameras and their operation, photographic composition, print finishing techniques, as well as computer imaging/editing as it relates to desktop publishing and multimedia presentations. 

 

PHOTOGRAPHY II   (TED2370)

Credit:  1/2

Prerequisites:  Basic Photography I or written permission of instructor

Meetings:  48 minutes, 3 days per cycle, full year

Open to:  Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors

 

This class requires students to prepare visual presentations relating to a central theme, idea, or content area. Presentations will be completed using different media including original continuous tone photography, digital/scanned photography, and computer generated graphics. Emphasis will be placed on originality and clarity of subject, as students complete both static visual displays and dynamic on screen computer presentations. ACCESS to a camera is mandatory!
