Information
obtained from these tests provides data on the achievement of our
students. They also serve as valuable
tools while planning school programs, writing curriculum, and developing
training programs for our staff.
Parents
have the right to review each test before its administration. Students may only
be exempt from taking the test if, upon inspection, parents find the test
conflicting with their religious beliefs.
In such cases, a written request for exemption must be submitted to the
Office of the Superintendent. Special
Education students are not exempt from these tests unless an IEP team makes
recommendation to exempt the student from taking the test. Additionally, educational leave requests for
students will not be honored during this testing window.
Answers to
frequently asked questions about the test are found on the flyer provided by
the Department of Education and included with this letter. If you have any additional questions
concerning the administration of the PSSAs, please contact this office or your
building principal.
Thank you
for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Yolanda
