The beginning of school is a new and exciting time for you and your child. It is a time of change and new beginnings, new surroundings, new friends, new skills and new challenges. Through teamwork, we can make it a happy and rewarding experience for everyone!
Kindergarten has changed a great deal since your own experiences beginning school. We will have fun learning letters names, letter sounds, sight words and beginning reading concepts in our language arts program. We will become writers, beginning with basic letter formation and handwriting. Your child will love using math manipulatives and group games to learn about counting, sorting, patterns and many other math concepts. Science and social studies are integrated into our language arts program. Science units are: weather, seasons and plants. We will learn about holidays, families and friends, and our country in social studies.
Your child will also have weekly special classes including art, music, physical education, library, computer class (half year) and health (half year). These special classes are led by other teachers outside of the regular classroom and are sure to be a favorite part of your child’s school experience.
