Dear
Parents/Guardians:
Each year during
this time our students confront a battery of standardized assessment
tests. Next week our freshmen and sophomore classes will be taking the
Terra Nova, while our junior class will be taking the PSSA tests. The
competencies and skills assessed on these tests provide us with an
opportunity to develop student profiles reflecting their academic
strengths and weaknesses helping our faculty members and administration
to prepare and improve our educational curriculum and the students’
learning experience.
This letter is
to make you aware of the upcoming events in your child’s education next
week on Tuesday, April 1 – Thursday, April 3, 2008. Underclassmen
should arrive to school regular time and should report to their testing
rooms and will begin their respective assessment at 7:50 a.m. promptly
each morning and work diligently until 10:37 a.m. There will be a 10-15
minute break in the middle of testing. Snacks such as soft pretzels and
juice will be provided by the district.
Every student in
the senior class is permitted to arrive at Pottsgrove High School at
10:15 a.m. on the mornings of Tuesday, April 1, Wednesday, April 2, and
Thursday, April 3, 2008. We are allowing seniors this privilege to
allow the underclassmen uninterrupted focus time. If a senior does not
have a way to school on the days listed above, the buses will still run
in the mornings and pick them up at their normal designated bus stops.
The district will monitor these seniors in a study hall beginning at
7:48 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
If you have any
inquiries concerning these upcoming events, please call the district and
we will be happy to answer any questions.
Sincerely,
Christopher
Shaffer, Principal
Pottsgrove High School
