    7th Grade Curriculum
     
     

    Internet Safety & Security and Cyber Bullying Unit- Students increase their awareness about Internet safety, security and privacy.  They also learn how to prevent cyber bullying and tips on what to do if you are Cyber-bullied.


    Copyright and Fair Use Law Unit -

    Students will learn the importance of Copyright and Fair Use Laws when creating multimedia school projects and how to cite research, photos and music properly.


    Web site evaluation – Students learn the importance of critically evaluating websites for accuracy, relevance, appropriateness, comprehensiveness and bias of electronic information sources.


    Keyboarding -

    Students continue to develop keyboarding skills using an online instructional application.  They are encouraged to keyboard 25 Words Per Minute (WPM) with 85% accuracy.


    Productivity Application Unit -

    Students will continue to develop and refine their word processing and presentation skills using Google Docs and Google Sheets which is a Web-based application in which documents, presentations and spreadsheets can be created, edited and stored online.  Files can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.

     

    Web 2.0 Unit-

    Students learn how to use various  Web 2.0 tools such as Podcasts, Blogs, Google Docs and GoAnimate. Web 2.0 tools are Internet tools and technologies that allow students to learn, contribute, problem solve  and collaborate.


    Digital Media Production Unit -

    Digital Media is the platform, where students can communicate, collaborate, and use their creativity and critical thinking skills.  In the 21st Century students are moving beyond the basic and embracing and learning  “cutting edge” technologies to help prepare them with the skill sets that they will need to be successful in our digital world.  Digital Media includes Web 2.0 tools such as Podcasts, Blogs, Google Docs, Prezi,  VoiceThread and there are many more.


    Digital Still and Video Camera Unit -

    Students will learn how to operate a digital still and video camera and apply photographic techniques to take great photos and videos. They will also learn how to utilize equipment such as a tripod, lighting and green screen.


    Digital Literacy Unit -

    Students will write, direct, produce and edit video clips to produce a professional quality multi media Public Service Announcement to share with their peers.


    Computer Coding/Programing Unit - 

    • Scratch - Students are introduced to computer programming/coding using the  "drag and drop" web based application Scratch.  Students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of computer programming/coding and also collaborate with others on projects.


    • Lego RoboticsAll students will have the opportunity to learn how to write code/program  Lego Robotics.  LEGO Education teaches students science, engineering, math, language arts, literacy and social studies (STEM). Students work in teams to build Lego robots and  write programs to control their robots to navigate through various robotic challenges.
