    Use summarization question to focus your slides: What are the main ideas? What are the crucial details necessary for supporting the ideas?  What information is irrelevant or unnecessary? What are key words or phrases to identify the main points from the text?

    Task 1—

    You will select a book to read. Refer to list of titles provided by Dr. Mays Coleman and go to descriptors that were put together by Mrs. Small, Library Media Specialist. This list and the descriptions can be accessed from the library webpage. (The titles are also listed by topic/subject or areas of interest to assist you with locating an interesting book). Complete the “Three Interests/Passions” sheet and submit by Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.


    Task 2—

    Get the book from school library, local library, or bookstore by Wed. Nov. 30 or Thurs. Dec. 1, 2016. Read the book. Complete the “Non-fiction Book Review” organizer (8 boxes) and submit by Thurs. Dec. 15, 2016.


    Task 3—

    Identifying Non-fiction/Fiction—Complete the graphic organizer that asks for sentences that identify the elements of non-fiction. Then complete the graphic organizer that asks for sentences that identify the elements of fiction. Submit sheets upon completion or no later than Mon. Dec. 19, 2016.

     

    Task 4—

    Multimedia Project:  Design a google slide show that informs other readers about what you learned. Follow specific instructions provided in class for the slideshow.
