Tips for developing reading fluency
Read along with your child to model correct phrasing and speed.
Have your child read to younger siblings.
Reread books. Rereading familiar books is an important step in building fluency.
Play games that involve reading. Reading more, and for fun, helps to build a large sight vocabulary and quick recall for a better fluency.
Provide your child with a dictionary to look up unfamiliar words to examine the word’s pronunciation, part of speech and definition.
Have the child read as much as possible.
