Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Matheny

This is my third year in the Pottsgrove School district as a librarian. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher but once I began reading picture books to children, I was hooked forever!  I am originally from Ohio where I taught at an informal elementary school in a Columbus Public School. Later, I became an online elementary teacher. Next, I taught near Memphis, Tennessee in their Science and Innovation Lab. In Pennsylvania, I spent a year teaching PreAlgebra and Gifted & Enrichment. I have a masters in education and a certificate in engineering education. The last 6 years I have enjoyed bringing robotics to the youngest students as well as think deeply about solving problems in their own environment. I now work to bring all my experience together to give students the opportunity to learn in a fun yet challenging environment grounded in a really great story! I look forward to the new books and challenges I can share with your children this year!

I am married and have 2 children moving towards the middle school years. We also have a rescue dog who eats our packages. That has led to lots of funny videos on our porch security camera. Our family enjoys watching minor league baseball, being outside, and traveling to see our family and friends. My husband and I both graduated from The Ohio State University and look forward to football season every year.
