    Hello everyone!  I hope you are all doing well! Here is your first day of assignments.  You have a reading log and a math choice board. I sent spelling words, so cut, sort, and write just like we do in school.  Keep all of your work in a notebook and loose papers in your read folder. Email or Dojo message me any questions.  Any messages from the encore teachers are suggestions of extra ideas.  They are not mandatory, but additional resources to make learning at home more fun and interactive.

    1.   Reading: Read for 30 minutes. Summarize what you read in one paragraph. 

    2.   Spelling: Write your spelling words 3 times each. 

    3.   Grammar: Go back to the text that you read today. Search for 10 common nouns and 10 proper nouns. Write down the nouns in a T-Chart. 

    4.   Writing: Persuade your reader! Here is your prompt:

    Should plastic water bottles be banned? Why/why not? Write a 3-4 paragraph persuasive response. 

    a.            Day 1: Graphic organizer- Tuesday

    You need to choose a side.  You will have 3 reasons to support your side and be able to explain them. 

    b.            Day 2: Prewrite-continue from yesterday!!

    You willl write 5 paragraphs.  Introduction ( includes topic sentence and listing your 3 reasons), Reason 1, 2, and 3 will all be their own paragraph, and finally a concluding paragraph restating your opinions.

    c.            Day 3: Rough draft

    d.            Day 4: Edit and revise rough draft

    e.            Day 5: Final copy

    6.            Science: Project for the week: 

    Come up with a scientific question, then design an experiment that would answer the question. 

    6.            Math: Make your own math flashcards for the multiplication tables through 10. Hunt for shapes in your house that are 2-dimensional. Make a list of at least 5 examples. Draw and label your examples. 

    7.  Today is St. Patrick's Day.  Make a craft, draw a picture, write a poem.....optional for fun!!!!!

    1.   Reading: Read for 30 minutes. Summarize what you read in one paragraph. 

    2.   Spelling. Write a sentence for each spelling word. Be creative. Please create 20 sentences total. 

    3.   Grammar: Go back to the text that you read. Search and write down 10 past tense verbs, 10 present tense verbs, and 10 future tense verbs.

    4.   Writing: Continue your writing project from yesterday. Begin your Prewrite today. 

    a.            Day 1: Graphic organizer

    b.            Day 2: Prewrite

    6. Math: Create your own operation problems. Write a word problem for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Be sure to solve each problem and show your work and thinking. Please create 4th grade level problems.

    For those of you that can access Study Island please complete any Grade 4 activities that you have not completed. If you need assistance logging in or determine what you do/do not have do please reach out to me. Also, please know that Study Island is the best way to practice learned and unlearned fourth grade skills. Be sure to watch lesson videos before completing the practice.

    2.   Spelling: make spelling flashcards. Ask a family member to “quiz” you by asking how to spell the words aloud. 

    3.   Grammar: Go back to the text that you read. Search and write down 25 adjectives (describing words). 

    4.   Writing: Continue your writing project from yesterday. Begin writing your rough draft.

    c.    ***  Day 3: Rough Draft- You should be here!  Indent your paragraphs!  Capital letters and punctuation!

    If Mrs. Gauntlett is your teacher for all or part of the day: Log in to IXL.com in place of Study Island on a daily basis. Information, log-in and passwords were sent home with your child. You can also request additional information as well as forgotten login/passwords through Mrs. Gauntlett's website and DOJO.

    3.   Grammar: Go back to the text that you read. List ten pronouns and tell who the pronouns refers to. 

    4.   Writing: Continue your writing project from yesterday. Reread your rough draft. Check for spelling, capitalization, punctuation. Choose the best words to use throughout your writing.
