Pottsgrove School District Welcomes Dr. Gregory Puckett as New Superintendent
Pottsgrove School District is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Gregory Puckett as the new Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Puckett was board approved on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The Board selected Dr. Puckett during an in depth search process coordinated by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA). The search process included stakeholder focus groups with PSBA that gathered valuable input from members of the Pottsgrove School District community and an extensive interview process conducted by the District’s Board of School Directors.
Dr. Puckett holds both a Master's and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Widener University. His Bachelor's degree is in Social Studies from Shippensburg University. He brings more than 18 years of administrative experience in public education to the Pottsgrove School District.
Dr. Puckett began his educational career as a Social Studies Teacher at Penn Wood Senior High School and Springton Lake Middle School. He was an Assistant Principal at Emmaus High School and Springfield Township High School, and Principal at Springfield and Marple Newtown High School.
As Assistant Superintendent and twice as Acting Superintendent at Chichester School District, he has sat at the board table, navigated complex budget and facilities decisions, worked through challenging labor negotiations, and guided the district through some of its most significant building projects — including a $65 million high school renovation.
Mr. Jay Strunk, President of the Pottsgrove Board of School Directors, said, “In searching for Pottsgrove’s next Superintendent of Schools, the Board was looking for an educational leader who would be highly visible and people-centered. We wanted someone who had experience as a teacher, a Principal, and a Superintendent; someone who could assist us in the areas of Student Achievement, Staff Morale, Leadership, Communication, and Safety. We unanimously believe that we have found this individual in Dr. Gregory Puckett.”
Dr. Puckett describes himself as "a visible and accessible leader who prioritizes trust and relationships." He has a proven record of improving student achievement, securing multi-million-dollar grants, and leading district-wide strategic planning. His leadership at Chichester has produced measurable results, including the highest student growth index in Delaware County and a 44-point improvement in the district's statewide ranking.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Puckett is a family man in every sense of the word. He and his wife, Beth Ann, live in Media, Pennsylvania and are the proud parents of three children - Zach, Hannah and Abby. Much of the Puckett family's free time is spent travelling to cheer their children on at the collegiate level. When he's not in the stands, Dr. Puckett enjoys staying active at the gym and getting to the beach whenever he can. His belief that strong relationships are the foundation of a thriving school community is something he lives at home as much as he does at work — and that is exactly the kind of leadership Pottsgrove is proud to welcome.
