Mr. Matthew Boyer, Principal
“At school, everyone’s job is to learn.” Dennis Sparks
I look forward to continuing the success we’ve had at Pottsgrove Middle School. I am excited to lead our staff as we grow a learning community that improves instruction, innovates with technology, values critical thinking, and cares for the achievement of every student. We work to equip students with the skills they’ll need for high school and workforce success.
Numerous stories of PGMS student successes find their roots in strong relationships among board of school directors, administrators, teachers, parents, and community members. As partners in this important work we nurture our students’ best achievement each day.
After graduating from Pottsgrove High School in 1992, I went onto pursue a degree in Nutrition and Biology from West Chester University. After my freshman year I decided to change my major to education and graduated from West Chester University, in the Fall of 1996 with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on reading and literacy. Upon graduating, I worked for the Devereux Foundation before accepting a position at Pottstown School District, as the Students Service Coordinator/Disciplinarian at Pottstown Middle School. After a year at Pottstown School district, I had achieved my goal and was granted a teaching position, as a 6th Grade Social Studies and Language Arts teacher at Pottstown Middle School. While teaching at Pottstown Middle School I served as the Social Studies department chair and had the opportunities to coach basketball, football, baseball, softball and cross country at the high school and middle school level. I received my Master Degree in Curriculum Education and Technology from Temple University and my Administrative certification from Alvernia University. In 2013 I was granted the position of 5th and 6th Grade Principal at Pottstown Middle School, I served as Principal for 4 year before accepting the position of Principal of Pottsgrove Middle School in 2017.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two daughters’; one is a Sophomore in college majoring in Biology, Pre-med and my youngest is in 6th grade. Going to the New Jersey shore, fishing and spending time on the beach is one of my favorite things. I enjoy fitness and am an avid Philadelphia Sports and Duke Basketball fan.
