I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and have had a chance to relax and rejuvenate. Now It’s time to start thinking about our new school year. I am so excited to see some new student faces, meet your child and get to know them better!
I’d like to introduce myself to you as your child’s case manager and/or teacher for any life skills/functional academic classes. I am a graduate of Pottsgrove High School and graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelors of Science in Special Education K-21. I have been teaching at Pottsgrove for the last 21 years, with the last 8 years in the Life Skills classroom. I have been married to my husband Jason for 21 years and we have 3 children. My son, Ethan, is starting his first year of college at Lehigh University. We also have 2 daughters in the Pottsgrove School District. Payton will be a senior this year and Addisyn will be in 6th grade.
Now that I have told you a little bit about myself, I’d like your help to get to know a little more about your child. I have included a couple sheets in this packet for you to read, complete, and return to school with your child during their first week back. I will also offer google forms that you can fill out instead. Please choose the format that works best for you. I will include the links to the digital forms on my teacher webpage as well as in an email, if I have your email address. Please complete these forms as soon as possible so we can get started with all of our activities.
Next, It’s time to start thinking about our new school year. Please bear with me and your child as we transition back into the building with in person learning 5 days/week. We also aren’t quite sure what our program will look like with some COVID precautions still in place. My hope is that we will be able to do monthly community outings, as well as grocery shopping at Redners. In the packet you will see a permission slip for bussing on community based outings, but please note that individual permission slips will come home prior to any outing that would require your child leaving school grounds.
Along with myself, I have the following support staff members who may be in contact with you or your child to assist them with classwork, homework, provide additional instruction or pre-teach lesson content.
I know it seems like a lot, but I believe that students benefit the most when the parents and teachers are on the same page. I value your opinions and knowledge about your child, and I want you to be up to date with what we are doing at school. To keep you up to date, please join your child’s Schoology.
Get a Parent Schoology Account: Parents/Guardians can get access to their student's Schoology account and see everything they can. You only have to do this for one class, then you have access to all classes. To get a parent account, https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/articles/201000823-Sign-Up-Parent- then contact a teacher for the parent access code. ** Here is an access code for my Language Arts class JM35-7MRS-MNZ6Z
Included in the packet that was sent home or click link to complete digitally:

Also, here is a supply list of items needed for our classroom for the year. If you are able to donate any of these items, please send them in to school when you have a chance. Students will use all of these materials to keep our classroom clean and healthy during our daily living skills class and/or during classroom activities. This is beneficial to us all, especially now with Covid-19 precautions.
