My name is Julie Young.  I started teaching at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary in 2011 after teaching eighth grade for four years at Pottsgrove Middle School.

When I am not teaching, I love being outdoors.  Some of my favorite hobbies are running, playing sports, and reading.  I am always looking to learn new things, especially in science and technology.

I believe that an inclusive, child-centered classroom in which kids feel safe to make mistakes and persevere is crucial to achieving the excellence I expect from all of my students.

Principles of community,communication, respect and responsibility guide my teaching. My goal in a classroom is to develop a child’s independence and passion for learning and discovery while maintaining a nurturing, yet rigorous learning environment.
