My name is Mrs. Stutzman King,
I am very excited to be beginning a new school year at Pottsgrove High School. This is my 18th year in the Pottsgrove School District. I enjoyed my time teaching elementary art at both Ringing Rocks and Lower Pottsgrove Elementary Schools. However, I am loving reconnecting with my former students at Pottsgrove High School. It's inspiring to see how much they have grown as both individuals and as artists. I look forward to being able to spend time with them in their art classes. I hope to inspire them with my passion for both art and teaching and also challenge them to be creative thinkers and problem-solvers.
The courses that I will be teaching this year are as follows:Introduction to Art:
This course is filled with projects and activities that will boost your critical thinking habits, improve your collaborative participation, grow your creativity and develop your communication skills through writing, and talking about art. We will focus our exploration of the art world through the Studio Habits of mind. We will explore a variety of different art mediums and concepts in this class.3-Dimensional Art
Three-Dimensional Art is a project-based studio art class. This course is designed to introduce you to a variety of different 3-dimensional sculptural techniques. You will have the opportunity to explore the properties of various mediums while exploring the elements of art and principles of design. We will be creating with clay, paper, cardboard, metal, fibers and other found materials.Advanced 3-Dimensional Art
Advanced 3 Dimensional Art is an upper-level, project-based studio class. This course is designed to allow you to dig into a variety of different 3-dimensional sculptural techniques. You will have the opportunity to challenge yourself while creating with various mediums to master the elements of art and principles of design. We will be utilizing clay, paper, cardboard, metal, fibers and other found materials.DIY Art
This is a hands-on elective for students who have taken Introduction to Art and want to continue with art electives. In this class, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of DIY art techniques. Students will be encouraged to use various art materials and processes. They will learn how to market and potentially sell their artwork. We will also be inviting working artists from our community into the classroom to talk about their art and business models.
