Closing & Delays

Pottsgrove School District makes every attempt to provide families with as much notice as possible when a delay, closure, or early dismissals, occur. Decisions, when possible, are made the night before, or well in advance. We will rely on weather radar, local forecasts, and work in conjunction with our busing company and Township road crews to make these decisions. 

In the event of a school closure or delay, the district will:

• Send out a mass email, call, and text alert via SchoolMessenger
• Post the alert on the Pottsgrove School District website
• Post the alert on our social media accounts - Facebook and Instagram
• Post the alert on the local news stations

Non-Public Transportation

In inclement weather, all non-public, parochial, and private schools will follow the Pottsgrove schedule for busing, regardless of their individual opening status since our roads have been deemed unsafe to drive and our students who attend these schools live within our bounds. Pottsgrove School District will notify all non-public, parochial, and private schools directly. Those schools will then communicate the information directly to families. 

Extracurricular Activities

If schools are closed or dismissed early, all extracurricular activities and evening educational activities are canceled. 

Text Opt-In

Parents/Guardians and Staff: To ensure you receive school closing, delay, and emergency communications via text message from the district you must complete the one time opt in process. To opt in, Text Y or YES to 67587. If you have already opted to receive district text messages, you do not need to complete this step again.

Please update your contact preferences by completing the first day packet through the Powerschool Parent Portal.

You can change your contact preferences as often as you wish throughout the school year through the Powerschool Parent Portal.  Should you have any questions, you may call our district technology department or email pgsdparentportal@pgsd.org.

Staff

Please update your contact preferences in the Powerschool Employee Access Center.

If you are not a parent/guardian to a student in the district but would like to receive email alerts from PGSD regarding closing and delays, please fill out the Google Form so that we have your contact information.
