Transportation

If you have a safety concern or would like to report an incident that occurred on the bus, please contact your child’s building principal by calling the office:

The principal or designee will contact you within 24 hours or the next school day.

If you need the bus to pick up or drop off your student(s) at a different location because you moved or have a daycare/babysitting change, please share the new information with your child’s school secretary by calling them at:

Important:

• Emergency changes must be communicated to the school secretary by 12 noon on the day of transportation.
• Students in grades K-1 must have a parent, guardian, or older sibling present and visible at the designated bus stop in order for the student to be released from the bus. If there is no parent, guardian, or older sibling visible at the designated bus stop, the bus driver will complete its run and return to the bus stop. If the parent, guardian, or older sibling is still not present, the bus will return the student to the school for pick up.
• Parents/Guardians may not legally board a school bus at any time, for any reason. Doing so will result in a $500 criminal fine. 

A student whose parents are divorced or separated with joint custody will be assigned bus stops near each parent’s home, provided both parents reside within the Pottsgrove School District. All other students will be assigned one (1) bus stop within their school's footprint.

Any emergency bus changes or arrangements to pick up a student instead of riding the bus must be communicated to the school office by 12:00 PM (noon) on that day.

If No Adult/Sibling is Present: If no parent, guardian, or older sibling is visible, the driver will complete the route and return to the stop. If no one is still present, the student will be returned to the school for pick-up.

Bus Stop Punctuality

• Students are required to be visible at their designated stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time.

• Drivers will wait a maximum of 1 minute past the scheduled pick-up time (or 3 minutes for students with special transportation needs) before departing. Drivers will not wait indefinitely.

Missed Bus Protocols

• Buses will not turn around, re-route, or return to a completed stop or school building for a student who missed the bus.
• If a student misses the bus, it is the sole responsibility of the parent, guardian, or emergency contact to arrange safe alternative transportation to school

Parents/guardians will be contacted via Schoolmessenger for the following reasons:

• Severe Lateness (more than 20 minutes)
• Accident Involving a Bus
• Fight (Parents/Guardians of the student involved)
• Police Involvement (Parents/Guardians of students involved)
• School Closings and/or Early Dismissals

All non-public school students residing in Pottsgrove School District who are in need of transportation must fill out the ACT 372 Request for Transportation Form prior to June 1.

If there is inclement weather, all non-public/parochial/private schools will follow the Pottsgrove schedule for busing, regardless of their individual opening status since our roads have been deemed unsafe to drive and our students at these schools live within our bounds.
